Born in Lake Tahoe, California, Smokey Jones is a singer-songwriter whose unexpected raspy tone and melodic riffs vibrate your core. The blonde hair, blue-eyed beauty honed her eclectic vocal skills at Berklee College of Music under the tutelage of world-renowned recording artist and educator, Vinx. While recording on her 21st birthday, Smokey met Evan Ross, son of legendary superstar Diana Ross, and producer Tony Dinero (Usher, Missy Elliott, Terrance Howard). The end result of the collaboration was an unreleased duet by Smokey and Ross, along with the opportunity to work at Tonys studio. After months of writing and recording new material, Smokey met with Island Def Jams SVP of A&R, Chris Anokute, who immediately flew her out to New York to showcase for Island Def Jam Chairman & CEO Barry Weiss. Within hours, Smokey was signed to Island Def Jam Music Group. Smokey is currently working on her debut album scheduled for a 2013 release.
