El Segell del Primavera is happy to announce the signing of a new artist: Joana Serrat from Vic in Catalonia. Joana has made a name for herself in folk which has obvious American roots (with hints of jazz and a good dose of pop) with a series of self-released records that have culminated in the recent "The Relief Sessions", a record with which she managed to catch the attention of the Catalan press, as well as that of a mixed and enthusiastic audience which has been filling up her concerts ever since. Now she has reached a turning point in her career. In a week’s time she will start recording her first record on El Segell, an ambitious project produced by Howard Bilerman, ex-member of Arcade Fire, co-producer of "Funeral" (for which he was nominated for a Grammy) and producer of artists such as Vic Chesnut, GYBE and Wolf Parade. This album will be mixed in the mythical hotel2tango studios in Montreal, and will be mastered by the engineer Harris Newman, who has worked with Tindersticks, Timber Timbre and Arcade Fire themselves. A third Canadian artist will also collaborate on this record, in this case as a musician: Gavin Gardiner from The Wooden Sky. A 7” with two tracks and followed immediately by an LP will constitute the outcome of this fruitful coming together.
