Although Anna Abreu only won runner-up in Finland''s television reality talent show Finnish Pop Idol, she managed to break the Top Ten with her debut single and storm to the top of the charts with her first album. Born in February 1990 in Vantaa, Finland, Abreu (full name: Anna Eira Margarida Mourão de Melo e Abreu) was of both Finnish and Portuguese heritage, which went a long way in explaining her varied musical tastes. The multilingual singer released her first single ("End of Love") to NRJ radio in June 2007, just after taking second from the top honors in the aforementioned Finnish television talent show. July of that same year saw the release of said single in disc form, and it broke through to the Top Ten of the Finnish charts, peaking at number eight. Her debut album, Anna Abreu, was released on August 22, 2007, started life on the top of the charts and staying in the Top 20 for a number of weeks. A second single, "Ivory Tower," was released in October. Abreu was also known for being the voice of Rod Flanders in the Finnish release of The Simpsons Movie.
